New York manufacturers see business pick up

General business conditions improved at a healthy pace for New York manufacturers this month, with the index climbing 9 points to 24.9, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York reported Tuesday.

It was the seventh consecutive month that manufacturers indicated improving conditions.

Forty-two percent of respondents in the Empire State Manufacturing Survey said conditions had improved from January, with only 17 percent reporting that conditions had worsened.....
