CN inks pact with another town along EJ&E railroad

Canadian National Railway Co. (CN Railway), Montreal, has come to an agreement with West Chicago, Ill., to address the town's concerns with its acquisition of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway Co. (EJ&E).
CN Railway completed its $300-million purchase of the 198-mile railroad from U.S. Steel Corp., Pittsburgh, on Jan. 31 (AMM, Feb. 3).
Under the agreement, CN Railway will help create and maintain quiet zones, install safety fencing, implement noise mitigation, provide emergency response personnel training and emergency communication improvements and address specific transportation issues unique to West Chicago.....
