CN Railway inks ‘quiet zone’ accord with town in Illinois

Canadian National Railway Co. (CN Railway), Montreal, said Wednesday it has reached a voluntary mitigation agreement with Richton Park, Ill., southwest of Chicago, addressing its concerns over the company's recent acquisition of Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway Co. (EJ&E).
Under the terms of the deal, CN Railway will assist the village in creating and maintaining quiet zones, fund safety fencing and provide emergency response personnel training and emergency communication improvements.....
