Most metal products log August price gains

Steel, aluminum and copper producer price indices, along with iron and steel scrap, aluminum scrap and copper scrap indices, all rose during August compared with the previous month, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report.

The steel mill products price index reached 164.3, up 6.8 percent from 153.8 in July but off 36.1 percent from August 2008, while the index for iron and steel scrap jumped 13.5 percent to 395.0 last month from 347.9 in July but fell 48.8 percent....
