Sen. Arlen Specter (D., Pa.) worked to bend the ear of Vice President Joe Biden—on Labor Day, appropriately—about the need for trade sanctions against imports of Chinese tires. Needlessly, as it turned out. Speaking at the AFL-CIO convention in Pittsburgh, Specter said he was on a long flight with Biden on Air Force Two "and I filled Joe's ears with the issue of sanctions against Chinese tires. Frankly, I didn't have to. Vice President Biden was all set to go." A few days later, President Obama approved an additional 35-percent tariff on the tires effective Sept. 26. While many in steel will be heartened to hear the vice president's stance on the trade case, Pot also took an interest in the airplane. Air Force Two doesn't get....
