Marad awards $2.1M pact to scrap two Suisun Bay vessels

Two mothballed vessels on the West Coast have been slated for recycling, the first ships in the U.S. Maritime Administration (Marad) Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet to gain top-priority recycling status and the first vessels in the fleet to be disposed of since January 2007.
The Earlham Victory and Pan American Victory, chosen for demolition because of their decrepit condition, will be scrapped by All Star Metals LLC as part of a $2.1-million contract.
