E-cycling said costlier than exporting

Electronics recycling, when done responsibly in the United States, is costlier than such alternatives as exporting unprocessed discards to developing countries, a Congressional Research Service report said.
The legislative agency summarized the problem as "limited domestic infrastructure and high demand abroad," noting that e-waste has become a concern due to the high volumes in which it is generated, the hazardous constituents it often contains—lead, mercury and chromium—and the lack of regulations applicable to its disposal or recycling.....
