US zinc premiums stuck in doldrums

Zinc premiums remain weak in the United States, but the bottom of the range has come up slightly as some consumers book 2010 metal and others take advantage of somewhat lower pricing levels.
Premiums for special high-grade zinc are in a range of 2.75 cents to 3.25 cents per pound, up from 2.5 cents to 3.5 cents previously.
"It's the time of year where some consumers start booking stuff for next year, but people are being pretty lethargic about it," Mo Ahmadzadeh, president of Mitsui Bussan Commodities (USA) Inc., said. "There is some production coming back on, but nobody is in a great hurry (in North America). This is really the wrong part of the world to be talking zinc at the moment."....
