Mercury Waste set to pay $54,000 penalty

Mercury Waste Solutions LLC has agreed to pay a $54,000 penalty in connection with equipment malfunction incidents in 2003 and 2006 and an allegation involving storage arrangements for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
Neither of the incidents involved any substantial release involving neighbors or employees, Pat Baskfield, the company's general manager, said.....
