Nonferrous scrap exports drop 5.4%

Nonferrous scrap exports declined 5.4 percent month on month in September, though the copper and brass group, like zinc, bucked the trend to post gains.
The 6,384 short tons of zinc scrap exported in September was the highest monthly amount since October 2008, when 11,534 tons were sent abroad by U.S. suppliers. While the latest monthly tally is up 13.3 percent from 5,634 tons in August, is trails by 31.9 percent the September 2008 total of 9,376 tons.....
