Lackluster demand bites ferrosilicon tags

U.S. ferrosilicon prices have fallen as a major domestic producer injects extra units into the market during a fourth quarter that hasn't been great in terms of ferroalloys demand.

Ferrosilicon deals are being booked in a range of 73 cents to 75 cents per pound, down from a 75- to 77-cent range last week.

"There's not a lot of business and people are still recovering from the fact that the fourth quarter has been a letdown as compared with the third quarter," a U.S.-based ferroalloys trader said, adding that traders and consumers are bringing in less material than two months ago because demand has failed to improve.....
