Steel mill product PPI rises in October; nonferrous slides

The producer price index (PPI) for steel mill products rose in October but the price indices for all nonferrous mill shapes declined, according to a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report issued Tuesday.
The PPI for steel mill products stood at 173.8 in October, up 2.7 percent from 169.2 the previous month but down 24.9 percent from October last year.
The PPI for copper and brass shapes decreased by 3.4 percent to 383.7 in October from 396.7 in September and was down 3.7 percent from a year earlier; the titanium mill shapes PPI dropped to 217.4 in October, down 3.3 percent from 224.8 the previous month and down 10 percent year over year; and the aluminum mill shapes PPI slid 0.7 percent to 158.9 from 160.1 in....
