Century Aluminum eyes Helguvik production in 2012

Century Aluminum Co. will restart construction of its greenfield smelter in Helguvik, Iceland in earnest in the spring of 2010 and is targeting first production by 2012, a top executive said.

Work at the Helguvik smelter site was effectively put on hold late last year due to tightening credit markets, low aluminum prices and the collapse of the Icelandic economy. Conditions....
