Imperial Aluminum begins restart of Alabama smelter

Imperial Aluminum LLC, successor to the smelting assets of Commercial Alloys Corp., is putting its Alabama plant back in operation.
"Minerva (Ohio) is now operating at near capacity," David Kozin, the company's president, said, and "we have begun a slow startup in Scottsboro," the Alabama operation.
Minerva's current annualized operating level is 110 million pounds of scrap intake and 90 million pounds of ingot output, he said. The Scottsboro plant is slightly smaller than Minerva, according to a description from the bankruptcy period.....
