Taylor Iron cleared to build barge port on Ohio River

West Virginia recycler Taylor Iron & Metal has passed a major regulatory hurdle and plans to proceed with construction of a multi-material barge loading and unloading facility along the Ohio River.

The U.S Army Corps of Engineers has issued the permit necessary to build the Port Huntington Terminals Inc. facility. The recycler will own and access the facility as a customer, said Norman Taylor, vice president of both Port Huntington and Taylor Iron & Metal. The terminal will also solicit business from other companies.

The facility will be constructed on the left descending bank near the Robert C. Byrd Bridge. It is located near to Steel Dynamics Inc.' Steel of West Virginia plant as well as facilities of both Kentucky Electric Steel and AK Steel Corp.....
