Posco gets OK for Alabama steel plant

Posco America Corp., a unit of South Korean steelmaker Posco Ltd., has been given the go-ahead by Alabama state and local development authorities to build a $17-million steel processing plant in Birmingham.
The new plant, which will create more than 60 jobs, is expected to open late next year. Production likely will be targeted mainly toward automotive customers in the Southeast, including Kia Motors and Hyundai Motor Co., which have plants there. ....
