Alcoa, Italy to hold power tariff talks

Alcoa Inc. representatives are tentatively scheduled to meet with Italian government officials Dec. 9 in an attempt to resolve a power tariff controversy that has threatened the viability of the company's aluminum smelters in Portovesme and Fusina.
"We have told people headed into that meeting that our position is going to be the same—unless there is some power situation that is going to come up, we are going to have to begin the process to curtail the facilities," a spokesman for the Pittsburgh-based company told AMM.....
