Brazil’s Votorantim to build Trinidad aluminum smelter

Brazil's Votorantim Metais Ltda. (VM) has signed a deal with the government of Trinidad and Tobago to build and operate the planned Alutrint primary aluminum smelter in the country's La Brea district.
VM will initially hold 10 percent of the project, with an option to increase its stake to up to 60 percent by 2012, João Bosco Silva, VM's director-superintendent, told Brazilian newspaper Valor Econômico. VM's press office confirmed the agreement. ....
