Stainless scrap exports slide 8.6%

U.S. exports of stainless steel scrap slid 8.6 percent in September from the previous month as every major buyer except Taiwan cut their purchases of the shiny scrap.
Shipments fell to 99,017 tonnes in September, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department, from 108,340 tonnes in August, when record purchases by Chinese specialty steelmakers bolstered the market.
Taiwan was the biggest stainless scrap buyer in September, taking 40,187 tonnes from U.S. suppliers, up nearly 51 percent from 26,675 tonnes the previous month.....
