Erie Coke admits to being source of some pollution

Erie Coke Corp. has acknowledged that it is "a major source for some contaminants" but said regulatory agencies missed the statute of limitations on some of the allegations.
The comments by the Erie, Pa.-based coke maker were included in its formal response to a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to try to force Erie Coke to comply with clean air regulations (AMM, Sept. 24).....
