Outlook for beam mart muddled by scrap hike

A surge in a benchmark scrap price has muddled the outlook for wide-flange beams, making a price hike attempt more likely.

A $65-per-ton increase in AMM's consumer buyer price for shredded auto scrap in the Chicago market threatens to exacerbate the gap between rising raw material costs on one hand and market conditions in wide-flange beams on the other, as buyers expect producers will try to recoup at least some of this increase with higher mill tags.....
