US lead scrap exports slide 8.7 percent

U.S. exports of lead scrap to key markets like Canada, South Korea and India sagged in September, while those to several smaller scrap importers were on the rise.

Shipments of the heavy metal scrap dipped to 12,644 short tons, down 8.7 percent from 13,856 tons in August, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department. It was the second-lowest shipping month thus far in 2009, only ahead of 10,433 tons in February.....
