Bull Moose Tube Co. is getting a boost from the U.S. war effort in the form of increased tubular production despite the effects of a lagging economy.

The Chesterfield, Mo.-based company will manufacture an additional 469 tons of tubulars this week, all of which will go toward the war effort. The job springs from a recently signed contract with Oshkosh Corp., Oshkosh, Wis.

Bull Moose will make the tubulars for use in blast-resistant vehicles that can tolerate roadside bombs, according to Jack Isles, general manager of the company's Elkhart, Ind., operations. He also indicated the deal with Oshkosh, valued at about $10 million, will provide Bull Moose with some longer-term production opportunities.....
