Auto crushers arrested in police sting

An undercover police sting targeting auto crushers has resulted in six arrests and three additional people being sought.
Operation Blue Crush, spearheaded by the Jacksonville (Fla.) Sheriff's Office, was implemented after the law enforcement agency noticed a "persistent problem with disabled vehicles being stolen and never being recovered."
Police went undercover, attempting to sell vehicles to auto crushers without the proper documentation—leading to charges against nine operators.
During a two-year period, 6,000 vehicles were stolen from the area and never recovered. "It (a vehicle) was a block of steel before the police report was even written. That is why none of those vehicles were ever recovered," Sheriff John Rutherford said.....
