Nucor-Yamato hikes Jan. beams $40/T

A projected $40-per-ton increase in wide-flange beam prices represents a compromise from an even greater increase in scrap costs—but nevertheless a challenge to pass through in a market marked by lagging demand.
Nucor-Yamato Steel Co., Blytheville, Ark., has notified customers that effective Jan. 1 it will raise its raw material surcharge by $65 per ton to $138 but will decrease its published price by $25 per ton, resulting in a net transaction price increase of $40 per ton. ....
