Machine tool exec urges US manufacturing analysis

A metalworking executive has joined other industry players in urging the Obama administration to conduct an ongoing analysis of the U.S. manufacturing sector.

The administration needs "to conduct an international cost and competitiveness analysis of the manufacturing sector, on an ongoing basis, that fleshes out all the areas where we are at a competitive disadvantage with companies overseas," James McGregor, president of Morgal Machine Tool Co. Inc. and Ohio Stamping & Machine LLC, Springfield, Ohio, said.

The executive joined Nucor Corp. chairman, president and chief executive officer Daniel R. DiMicco on Wednesday, as well as Vice President Joe Biden and other top administration officials at the White House Middle Class Task Force Manufacturing meeting to discuss revitalizing American manufacturing.....
