Eurofer backs EC expansion of steel import monitoring

The European Commission has decided to prolong its steel import prior surveillance system, an early warning system describing what level of steel imports to expect, and to extend its coverage, a move supported by the European Confederation of Iron and Steel Industries (Eurofer).
The decision reflects the openness of the European steel market and its vulnerability to sudden import surges, according to Eurofer, Europe's leading steel industry trade association, adding that rapid, advance information of sudden changes in trade flows is essential to the steel market.....
