Illinois recycler Mervis Industries opts to expand downstream

Scrap metals recycler Mervis Industries Inc. is expanding its footprint to include finished products for the railroad industry.
The ferrous and nonferrous recycler is reconditioning railroad castings under a newly formed company, Illini Castings LLC, located near its headquarters in Danville, Ill.
Operations began in November with 17 employees, but the company plans to hire as many as 30 workers, most of whom will be welders.....
