Rio Tinto Alcan mulls aluminum smelter in Paraguay

Rio Tinto Alcan is considering building a primary aluminum smelter in Paraguay with an initial capacity of 485,000 tonnes per year.
Rio will start negotiations with Paraguay's state-owned national electrical agency, Administración Nacional de Electricidad, early next year on a power supply deal for the smelter, which it hopes to bring on-stream....
