Norsk Hydro commissions Qatalum aluminum smelter

Norsk Hydro ASA has commissioned its 585,000-tonne-per-year Qatalum greenfield aluminum smelter in Qatar on time and on budget.
The first cell at Qatalum, which is owned 50-50 by Norway-based Hydro and Qatar Petroleum, started primary aluminum production Sunday. The plant, which cost about $5.7 billion to build, will mainly supply Asia....
