US primary metal shipments rise 3 percent in November

The U.S. primary metals sector shipped nearly $15 billion worth of products in November, up 3 percent from $14.56 billion the previous month but down 5.8 percent from November 2008.

Primary metal shipments in the first 11 months of 2009 were off 37.7 percent from a year earlier, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's latest advance report on durable goods manufacturers. New orders increased 1.4 percent to $14.81....
