Steel processor to build temper mill

Norfolk Iron & Metal, a Norfolk, Neb.-based steel service center and processor, announced plans Thursday for a $20-million expansion, including a temper mill, to meet demand for ultra-flat plate products.
The expansion includes a Delta Brands Inc. temper mill capable of processing plate steel from coils up to 50 tons, in thicknesses up to 0.787-inch and 96-inches wide.
Norfolk president Richard Robinson said the company expects to process its first coil late next year.
"We believe plate demand will only grow due to the energy sector," Robinson said. "It's a main product in building wind farms." He said Norfolk is already servicing this market.....
