China’s scrap yield expected to rise by 50 million tonnes by 2012

China could generate an additional 50 million tonnes of ferrous scrap in the five years to 2012, with potentially huge ramifications for the world market, according to CRU Research analyst Calum Baker.
"China has the potential to be a significant importer and exporter of scrap. This could change the global picture" in terms of raw material flows, he told delegates at the 49th Instituto Latinoamericano del Fierro y del Acero (Ilafa) conference in Cancun.....
