Brass scrap takes big hit in military auction

Brass scrap values lost further ground in an auction of military discards, attracting a top bid of just 94 cents a pound for material from a repair shop at Hill Air Force Base near Ogden, Utah.

The values have been on a steady decline, with the latest sale down 58 percent from $2.24 a pound June 17 and off 70.6 percent from $3.20 a pound April 15. ....
