Stainless exports slide 2.6% in Aug.

Gains in exports of stainless steel scrap to Europe and Japan weren't enough to offset a steep drop in the tonnage bought by market leader Taiwan in August.

Overall exports of the shiny scrap fell to 94,777 tonnes in August, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department, down 2.6 percent from the 97,284 tonnes shipped overseas the previous month and are off more than 13 percent from the record 109,013 tonnes exported in June.....
