CN petition to force rail deal denied

Canadian National Railway Co. (CN), Montreal, said Tuesday that a court had denied its petition for an order compelling an immediate decision by the U.S. Surface Transportation Board (STB) to allow the sale of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway Co. (EJ&E) from U.S. Steel Corp. to CN to close by the two parties' Dec. 31 deadline.
The company had filed its petition Sept. 18 in the U.S. Court of Appeals, Washington.....
