Aleris swings to $197.8M loss in 3d qtr. [UPDATE]

Aleris International Inc., showing gains in its recycling segment but a downturn in rolled and extruded products, posted a third-quarter loss of $197.8 million vs. year-earlier net income of $3.5 million.
The Beachwood, Ohio-based aluminum company showed quarterly revenue of $1.58 billion, up 3.4 percent from the year-earlier $1.53 billion.
Economic conditions have strained many of Aleris' customers, according to Steven Demetriou, the company's chairman and chief executive officer. ....
