Taiwan drives aluminum export dive

U.S. aluminum scrap exports fell again in September, with Taiwan leading the retreat.

Exports totaled 165,592 short tons during the month, down 21.4 percent from August's 210,646 tons and off 28.4 percent from the July peak of 231,206 tons. However, the monthly tally exceeded the 150,709 tons exported in September 2007.

Taiwan's intake stood at 7,898 tons in September, down 58.9 percent from a month-earlier 19,222 tons and off a little more than 81 percent from July's 41,638 tons.....
