Scrapyard workers face the music

Four Kalamazoo, Mich., scrapyard workers accused of detaining and assaulting men they suspected of trying to steal scrap metal from their company were sentenced this week, while three men in Canton, Ohio, were told they face a grand jury and charges of kidnapping two men they believed had stolen scrap metal from former Republic Steel Corp. property.
The Kalamazoo County Court reduced the charges against the four Kalamazoo Metal Recyclers Inc. (KMR) workers to misdemeanor assault and battery and each man was ordered to pay a $150 fine and $150 in court costs. All four also agreed to share in paying a $2,460 hospital bill for one of the injured victims.....
