Hydro’s Soderberg potlines at Karmoy may close early

Norsk Hydro ASA said that it may close the Soderberg potlines at its Karmoy aluminum plant in Norway earlier than previously scheduled.
The Oslo, Norway-based company also said that the "current market situation" has led it to temporarily cancel plans for a new, modern production line at Karmoy.
Hydro had hoped to obtain a power platform that would allow a major new investment to be made at Karmoy. "This has proved to be difficult, but it is the extreme market situation that is now making the company shelve its plans for a new, modern production line at the plant," the company said. ....
