Durable goods orders fall 6.2%, housing down 4.5%

New orders for manufactured durable goods fell to $193 billion in October, down 6.2 percent from the previous month, the largest percentage decrease since October 2006.

Shipments of manufactured durable goods also fell for the third consecutive month in October to $202.9 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, a 2.4-percent decline, while unfilled orders fell 0.6 percent to $823.6 billion, the first decline in 26 months.....
