California’s UBC recycling rates up in first half of ’08

California, which boosted its refund incentives for recycling beverage containers nearly two years ago, said the recycling rate for all types of bottles and cans rose to 76 percent in the first half of this year.
That's up from 71 percent in January-to-June 2007 and 65 percent in the same period of 2006.
For aluminum used beverage cans (UBCs), the rate rose to 85 percent for the first six months of this year, up from 83 percent in the same year-earlier period and 77 percent in January-to-June 2006.....
