Richardson named to head Commerce

President-elect Barack Obama's announcement that New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson will be his pick for Commerce Secretary was welcomed by some metal industry trade groups Wednesday.
Richardson "really did a good job at the Department of Energy. He was a significant help to the steel industry and the environment," said Thomas Danjczek, president of the Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA), referring to Richardson's stint as Secretary of Energy from 1998 to 2001.
