Belden to reduce work force by 20 percent

Specialty wire and cable maker Belden Inc., St. Louis, has announced a large-scale restructuring plan intended to streamline production in an increasingly dismal economic environment.

The copper consumer said that some 1,800 employees, or 20 percent of the company's work force, will be displaced as a result of the consolidation plan.....
