Mexico mining union officials arrested

Mexican authorities have arrested two senior officials from Mexico's National Mining and Metalworkers Union in a move that the union condemned as arbitrary and illegal.
"These are punitive actions against leaders of the mining union in a clear abuse of official power aimed at destroying the union," the group said.
Carlos Pavon Campos, the union's secretary of political affairs, was arrested Thursday by what a union report called federal police agents, while Juan Linares Montufar, president of the union's general council, was taken into custody Wednesday at his home in Los Reyes, Michoacan.....
