ArcelorMittal USA , USS-Posco announce layoffs

Two more flat-rolled producers have scheduled layoffs, one doubling the amount of layoffs at one of its locations and the other at a West Coast facility.
ArcelorMittal USA Inc. confirmed that it is temporarily laying off 450 employees at its Cleveland facility, effective immediately.
"We anticipate the layoffs to last less than six months," a company spokesman said in a statement.
Sources said this work force reduction is in addition to the 400 workers at its Cleveland steel plant that were laid off in November (AMM, Nov. 25). The Chicago-based company has idled two blast furnaces at its Cleveland (Ohio) Works and sources have told AMM that four of its nine U.S. blast furnaces are now idle (AMM, Nov. 6).....
