Heavy melt exports near 1-year low

Exports of No. 1 heavy melting steel scrap dropped in September to their lowest level in almost a year as both eastern Mediterranean and Asian buyers cut their purchases.

Deliveries slipped to 288,075 tonnes, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department. That is down 33.4 percent from 432,513 tonnes in August and the lowest one-month total since October of last year, when 236,435 tonnes left U.S. docks for foreign ports.....
