Titanium distributor, four execs face fraud charge

A major U.S. titanium distributor and four current and former executives have been charged with criminal fraud for allegedly selling substandard material used on military aircraft and spacecraft.
According to an indictment unsealed this week in U.S. District Court in San Diego, executives of Western Titanium Inc., San Diego, knowingly sold forged bar that was instead supposed to meet the specifications for rolled plate.
The indicted executives, who have all pleaded not guilty, include Daniel Schroeder, Western Titanium's owner and chief executive officer; Brian Misak, currently vice president of sales and marketing; Cheem Ang, quality assurance manager; and John Cotner, former vice president of sales. Misak was a sales representative for Western Titanium when the alleged crimes were committed, according to the indictment.....
