Nonferrous exports off; zinc defies trend

Nonferrous scrap exports continued to decline in October, with zinc the sole category to buck the downward trend.
The October nonferrous metal export tally reached 250,145 short tons in October, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department. That's down 15.1 percent from 294,598 tons a month earlier and 15.5 percent behind the 296,167 tons exported in October 2007. The monthly total also trails the summer peak by about 32 percent.....
