Cost issue in Australia emissions plan

Alcoa Inc. said that Australia's proposed carbon emissions cap and trade scheme includes "important and sensible initiatives" but warned that significant cost increases could threaten the company's Australian business.
On Monday, the Australian federal government unveiled its so-called white paper, which detailed its plans for carbon trading and its greenhouse emissions targets for 2020. The country has set a minimum target to cut emissions by five percent by that year, based on year-2000 levels. About 1,000 of Australia's largest businesses could take part in a carbon pollution reduction program.....
